Advocating for improved tenant rights and policies in Ontario.
Advocating for improved tenant rights and policies in Ontario.
Founded in 2018, Tenant Network Toronto (T.N.T) is a volunteer-run, non-partisan network, made up of private sector tenants association leaders/presidents/delegates and tenants’ advocacy leaders in Toronto.
T.N.T. advocates for improved tenant rights and policies in Ontario. We strive to support all tenant associations in Toronto, stand up for tenants' rights, advocate for beneficial policy changes at the government level, and to make life more livable and affordable for Toronto tenants.
We take an active approach to empowering tenants’ associations in Toronto by helping them gain the knowledge, education, support, and tools that they need to assert their rights and organize with their neighbours and/or with other tenants associations.
Approximately 50 per cent of Toronto households are made up of tenants, yet tenants continue to be disempowered and disconnected.
Our goal is to build a strong network of private rental tenant association leaders and tenant advocates, who will unite under one voice on tenant/rental issues, like vacancy de-control, rent control, and above guideline rent increases that affect a large proportion of the population of Toronto.
Our Tenant Association Coordinators can help you set up, manage, and develop your tenants’ association.
We can share our knowledge about how to start a tenants’ association, choose leadership, increase membership, prepare, and challenge an Above Guideline Rent Increase (AGI), and improve living standards for your neighbours and building.
Contact Liza Butcher or John Plumadore, T.N.T. Coordinators at TOTenantsNetwork@gmail.com
If you have received an Above Guideline Rent Increase, we would be happy to help you prepare and organize.
